The Radio City Rockettes believe that it is important to educate young aspiring dancers about the skills and talents necessary to pursue a career in dance, as well as encourage them to pursue their dreams. Therefore, we are proud to present innovative dance education programs. The Rockette Summer Intensive and The Rockette Experience offer dancers the opportunity to train with the Rockettes. Both programs allow hopeful dancers to get a glimpse into the life of a Rockette and gain a sense of the excitement, challenges and joys that come along with being part of the world’s most famous precision dance company.

The Rockette Summer Intensive

Now in its ninth season, the Rockette Summer Intensive offers a comprehensive summer training program that allows dancers to connect with the professional dance world and study the world famous Rockette precision dance technique. The goal of this program is to give students the opportunity to discover and develop their optimum potential in a nurturing environment. The program has proven to be a viable training ground for Rockettes, as 19 of its students are Rockettes in the 2009 Radio City Christmas Spectacular. 

The program includes:

• One week of intensive study at Radio City Music Hall with the Radio City Rockettes and a Rockette Director /Choreographer
• Six hours of class daily with emphasis on Rockette jazz, tap, formations and kick line,
• Finale performance opportunity. 
• Tuition is $895 and includes all classes, seminars, and final performance participation.

Requirements: To be considered for the Rockette Summer Intensive dancers must be 14 years old (by June 20, 2010), have a minimum of 5 years continuous training in tap, jazz, and ballet and attend a Rockette Summer Intensive audition or submit a video audition.

The Rockette Experience

For anyone who’s ever dreamed of dancing with the Radio City Rockettes, The Rockette Experience may bring that dream a bit closer to reality for a day. In this one day workshop at Radio City Music Hall, aspiring dancers have the opportunity to learn original choreography from the Radio City Christmas Spectacular.

• Take a 3-hour workshop taught by a Radio City Rockette and learn jazz and tap choreography from the Rockette repertoire, including the world-famous Rockette kick line.
• Go through a “mock audition” plus have a Q&A and photo op with the Rockette teacher.
• Take the Radio City Stage Door Tour and get a behind the scenes look at the “Showplace of the Nation.”

Requirements: Open to dancers ages 10 (and up) with training in jazz, tap, and ballet.
