Peace and Prosperity
On October 14th, The Tibet Center and Healing the Divide are honored to host His Holiness the Dalai Lama, when he will give a public talk entitled Peace and Prosperity. His Holiness will discuss the ways that individuals can best cultivate virtuous qualities within themselves to bring about peace and prosperity in today's world.
Each year, His Holiness the Dalai Lama travels throughout the world offering teachings to hundreds of thousands of individuals of all faiths. During these travels, he enjoys giving public talks. While the Dalai Lama also offers empowerments and initiations which usually coincide with his teachings, he has always stressed the importance of one attending teachings rather than empowerments or initiations in order to allow practitioners a better understanding of Buddhist philosophy.
Teachings:
On October 12, 13 and 14, 2007, Healing the Divide and The Tibet Center are honored to host His Holiness the Dalai Lama when he returns to New York City to bestow three days of teachings on The Diamond Cutter Sutra, by the Buddha and Seventy Verses on Emptiness, by Nagarjuna. His Holiness will explain both texts and the philosophical view they impart. His commentary will bring to life the fundamentals and intricacies of emptiness as outlined in the texts, and ultimately how we can deepen our realization of emptiness, and thereby diminish our grasping at a sense of self. This is how we progress along the path to enlightenment.
Public Talk:
Following these special teachings, His Holiness will give a Public Talk on "Peace and Prosperity".
